Cool little spot for a beer and a good time. Had a pizza (undercooked in my opinion for about 7 minutes) and some wings (quite good for breaded, but be wary of the Parmesan reaper. I had a pinky taste and it fired me up for a good 5 minutes. I can't imagine what it would be like all over a wing) Service was great. Place was great. Enjoyed the outside patio while we waited for a table.
We were here on a Saturday night around 5:30. Luckily found a seat at the bar. There was already a wait. Bartenders (2-3) were busy so it took a few minutes to get an order in. They were friendly and helpful. Draft beer selections were good. My husband said the Old Fashion was very good. I ordered the grilled chicken bow tie pasta and it was delicious and a little on the spicy side which I loved. My husband ordered the meatloaf and practically licked the plate Great bar type vibe. We would definitely eat here again. Lots of options.
We sat outside because the day we were there the weather felt like heaven. We were seated after a short wait. The staff was very nice and attentive. I was happy with our choice before the food came out. After my first bite, I was thrilled with the choice! I forget exactly what I ordered but it was like a beef roast and my husband had brisket Mac&cheese. Both dishes were delicious. Highly recommend.
Our first time visiting here and oh my did not disappoint!!! Parking is a little tricky but once you get inside the atmosphere is so incredible! Such a cool, historic building! Our waiter Jackie was incredible; very friendly, made excellent recommendations and just made you feel at home. We had the fried green tomatoes as appetizer (which is the only pic of food I got) that were over the top! We split a pizza and much was out of this world! The crust was amazing!! We each had a salad - he had homemade blue cheese dressing and I had homemade ranch dressing… WOW! We will definitely be coming back here!! Highly recommend
Great restaurant in an historic building on Pack Square in Ashville NC. I ordered the spicy chicken pasta, which was delicious, one of their signature dishes. It was spicy but not overpowering, served with a garlic bread stick. My better half ordered the bison meatloaf, it was very tasty, and filling. We were there at shift change. Jack, our 1st server, was great, very helpful with menu questions, and questions about the area and how the area has recovered from the hurricane damage. Our 2nd server Terra, was awesome, not just because she shared the same name as my wife, which is highly unusual, but her parents were from our home town. She was friendly, attentive and a great conversationalist. The prices of food were fair. The darkside beer flight was very good, as was the margarita.
I love the vibe in this place! It was a cold, rainy, blustery day and this place warmed our hearts! The adorable car parked out front is the beginning of a cool visual experience! The front door decorated with cute fall decor was really pretty. We were greeted right away and told there would be a 10 minute wait. And that was pretty much spot on. We were taken to a table in a separate room that I couldn't see from where we were waiting and I was so surprised! Big room...great look! Lots of windows and warm wood furniture. We were greeted quickly by our server, Jack. He was great! So friendly! He offered suggestions and gave insight on items on the menu. He was really great the entire time we were there and took good care of us! We ordered the Sunburst pizza based on his suggestion and we loved it! Sooo good! We also split a bowl of French Onion soup to share which was so good and enjoyable on a cold, rainy day! We were only visiting Asheville, but if we lived here, I think this would be a favorite spot! Please go and check out Pack's Tavern! It's a cool place with good food and friendly people! I think you'll like it!
Packs Tavern is a huge restaurant but you are well taken care of. Special mention goes to our waiter: Jack. He took good care of us. Making use feel welcome. I got the Backyard BBQ buger. It was the BEST buger I have had in a long time. The meat was cook perfectly, the bacon waa crisp, but not overcooked. The BBQ sauce was tasty. And it came with a gluten-free bun!!!! A manager came over, after we ordered, and asked if the gluten-free was preference or an allergy. I let her know it was an allergy. She let me know that the fries I ordered were fried in oil where breaded stuff was also fried and was I okay with that. Thanks for that information! I switched to cold slaw as my side.
Cool historical place, good food and excellent service. The seating process was seamless. Even on a busy Saturday night w/o a reservation and a huge festival happening out front, we were seated within 25 minutes. Our server was great, answered our 20 questions, made suggestions and was very patient. The menu options were plentiful and there was something for about any palate and dietary preferences. The beverage selection was also very good. It teeters on the edge between sports bar and gathering place for foodies. A bit to loud for a romantic dinner but a great place for a group or just a quick bite.
